Meet Dr. Razz
Hey there! I’m Dr. Michael Rasmussen, or Dr. Razz as most of my patients call me. I’m so excited you’re here. A little introduction about myself: I grew up in Midland, TX (the land of oil and tumbleweeds). My wife, Danyelle, and I live right here in Flower Mound with our two kids, Luke and Ellie. I opened Razz Orthodontics because I wanted to work where I live so that we can benefit the community we share. My hope is to better the lives of our patients both in and out of the practice. Our office will always be a place where we honor the heart of the person sitting in our chair, not just their smile.
Now for the awkward part where every doctor brags about themselves (LOL). I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I studied Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry and graduated with the highest honors. I then studied dentistry for four years at UT’s School of Dentistry in Houston where I served as Class President and graduated in the Top 5 of my class. I also won numerous awards in the Cosmetic Dentistry Department and the National Hinman Symposium President’s Award for my work in studying Craniosynostosis and Van der Woude’s Sydrome (two diseases that cause cleft lip and palate). I was the only person in the country to receive this award that year and the first in the school’s history.
After dental school, I attended my orthodontic residency for three years at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. This is where it gets really good because it’s where I met my wife! I went one step further after school and became a Board Certified Orthodontist. This requires an in-person examination in front of 12 Board Examiners over the smallest of details of our profession (talk about having butterflies before walking into that room). Once I started practicing, I worked under the tutelage of a nationally-recognized Invisalign expert. This allowed me to gain the privilege of becoming a Key Opinion Leader for Invisalign in 2021 as I taught younger orthodontists how to accomplish precise results using aligners.
Phew! If you made it through that, well done! Now for the fun stuff. I love getting to teach high school ministry at the Village Church. My wife is a women’s Bible study group leader there as well. When not in the office, I like to play guitar, and I can smoke a mean brisket! I like golf just a little too much (notice I said I like to golf, not that I’m good at it). I’m a huge Longhorn football fan, and, of course, you can find me at the local playground having fun with the kids.
I’m honored that you have chosen to consider my practice for you or your family’s orthodontic needs. Please give us a call or request an appointment online. We can’t wait to share our passion with you!
